Community Food Program Associate

The Community Food Program Associate (CFPA) is based at A Place To Turn and reports directly to the Executive Director. The Community Food Program was launched in September 2025 to increase access to fresh food. Through the program, we bring food to the places people live and congregate in collaboration with community partners. The CFPA will work closely with the Community Food Program Coordinator, who leads the Community Food Program, to coordinate and expand the program. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, mission-driven professional to work with experienced staff to sustain and expand a developing program.

Tasks and Responsibilities

·         Work with the Community Food Coordinator to build and sustain strong working relationships with community partners.

·         Take the lead on logistical aspects of managing food distribution to partners.

·         Attend and assist with managing mobile markets at partner sites. This will require some weekend and evening hours.

·         Coordinate and manage Community Food Program volunteers.

·         Develop an understanding of the food systems in the region with a focus on the opportunities and challenges for those experiencing barriers to food access.

·         Work closely with the staff at A Place To Turn and help with pantry operations when needed.

Experience, Skills and Attributes

·         Passion for working to solve food insecurity.

·         Strong interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively.

·         Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive agency van and truck.

·         Ability to lift 50 pounds.

·         Ability to work some nights and weekends.

·         Bi-lingual (Spanish or Portuguese).

·         Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or at least 3 years of relevant experience.

The salary range is $45,000 - $55,000 depending on experience.  Benefits include paid vacations and sick time, as well as the last week in December as a paid vacation week; health, dental and vision insurance (80% employer paid); and a 3% Simple IRA match.

Development and Communication Associate

The Development and Communications Associate (DCA) is based at A Place To Turn and reports directly to the Executive Director. The DCA will work with the Executive Director to manage administrative tasks related to fund development, tracking in-kind donations, as well as managing communications to donors, volunteers and the larger community.  This is a new position and an exciting opportunity for a motivated, independent professional to impact all aspects of fundraising and communications for a growing nonprofit. The position is on-site for the majority of hours with the potential for a limited hybrid work schedule.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Development

·         Update and maintain donor database (Bloomerang)  

·         Send donor acknowledgements in collaboration with the Executive Director

·         Assist in planning and implementation of fundraising events

·         Assist in developing digital and mailed appeals

·         Assist with writing grants and reports

·         Manage all in-kind donations including food and diaper drives

Communications

·         Write quarterly newsletters and news blasts when needed

·         Develop marketing materials for different stakeholders

·         Send out periodic press releases promoting and championing our work

·         Work with the Food Pantry and Marketing Coordinator to manage social media accounts

Outreach and Operations

·         Outreach to community groups (i.e. places of worship, schools, civic orgs, etc.) with the goal of increasing in-kind donations and volunteers

·         Manage group volunteer communication and schedules

·         Represent A Place To Turn at community meetings and events as needed

·         Assist with daily operations of the pantry and/or Community Food Program as needed

·         Other duties as assigned

Experience, Skills and Attributes

·         Passion for working with community to increase food security

·         Strong writing and communication skills

·         Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with staff, donors and volunteers

·         Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

·         Experience in the non-profit sector strongly preferred

·         Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or at least 5 years of relevant experience.

The salary range for this position is $55,000-$70,000. Benefits include paid sick and vacation time, including the last week in December as paid time off; health, vision and dental insurance (80% paid by employer); and a 3% Simple IRA match.
