Volunteer Role Descriptions

Kitchen (during distribution hours)

  • Present clients with choices of refrigerated and frozen items

  • Keep refrigerators and freezers organized and stocked

  • Communicate low inventory to staff

Prep (prior to distribution Monday and Wednesday)

  • Make diaper bags as needed

  • Count/organize diaper donations (this may be done upstairs where diaper back stock is kept)

  • Help prep fresh produce

  • Check expiration dates and place product in appropriate stockroom/shelf

  • Accept donations - weigh and enter donor/weight in log book

  • Help unload donations/deliveries/pickups

Retail Store Shopper

  • Shop at local retailers with a list provided by APTT (credit card provided)

  • Load and unload product from your car/ APTT van

Van Driver

  • Pickup from retailers, schools, and other partner organizations

  • Load and unload donations

  • Refuel van as needed (credit card provided)

Shopper (during distribution hours)

  • Guide clients through the pantry

  • Accurately offer all items as indicated on the client registration slip

  • Efficiently bag groceries to be placed in the shopping cart

  • Become familiar with various produce that is offered

  • Help unload donations/deliveries/pickups

Stocker (approx. 2 hours after distribution Tuesday and Thursday)

  • Restock the pantry shelves

  • Restock personal care shelves

  • Help unload donations/deliveries/pickups

Floater (during distribution hours)

  • Restock shelves

  • Shop express list for clients

  • Accept donations - weigh and enter donor/weight in log book

  • Check expiration dates and place product in appropriate stockroom/shelf

  • Empty cardboard recycle box in backroom

  • Help unload donations/deliveries/pickups

Mobile Market Shopper

  • Help walk through MM line and pack bags for clients as they make their choices.
